Classic TV
Leading the creative teams at Nick at Nite and TV Land was always a privilege and a joy. Here is a sampling of spots for classic TV from over the years that I wrote or collaborated on. Apologies for the video quality. More will be available soon in The Vault, if you just can't get enough.
60 Second Sitcoms
One of a series of "compressed" sitcoms parodying various eras. We made about 15 in total.
The Big Tape
The five-minute tape that launched TV Land... later edited into many shorter on-air image spots.
TV Land Kitschen
Martin Mull and Fred Willard host a late night block of kitsch on TV Land. We ultimately made dozens of spots, and a half-hour pilot.
Austin Powers Hosted Event
Mike Myers, Rob Lowe and Heather Graham all hosted spy-themed episodes to promote the movie.
Reuben Hair Shift
A Nick at Nite spot from the Our Television Heritage years, Promax Gold winner.
Twip!
We collaborated with writer-directors Jim Tozzi and Vezna Tozzi to develop this franchise of classic commercial parodies.
Six Million Dollar Bob
One of a series of six show parodies Bob Newhart made with us to promote the launch of Newhart. (Includes an appearance by not yet famous Cheryl Hines.)
Milkman
Early Nick at NIte brand image vignette series.
Why We Watch - Lassie
Collaboration with Dr. Will Miller, who applied his professional training as a psychologist (and his other career as a stand-up comedian) to analyze our shows.
Friday Movie Show Night
Eccentric foreign hosts with shaky grammar sing and dance to promote a weekly airing of a hit pop culture movie on TV Land. Of course.
The Lost Brady
We created the legend of Phoebe Brady, a seventh child who had been edited out of the show... for reasons that become apparent.
Nite of the Living Gabors
From way back... but still one of my favorite scripts.
Soundbite Fugue
I discovered a use for Word's "search" capability. Searched my show notes for word endings, then took all the rhyming phrases and composed poems. Promax Gold Winner.
Flip Shake
:45 spot. Ah, those were the days.
Theme Song Sweepstakes
Vic Mizzy and yours truly pitch the "win your own theme song" contest.
Dead Giveaway
Sweepstakes marathon of Alfred Hitchcock Presents in which we had Wink Martindale challenge viewers to count the dead to win a prize.
